What is Thorous and why was it created?
Most AI code generators treat iOS development as an afterthought: they produce web views wrapped in hybrid shells, or give you raw code snippets that fail to compile when pasted into Xcode.
We built Thorous to be completely native to the Mac. It interfaces directly with Apple's command-line tools, compiles real SwiftUI using the native Swift compiler, and streams the running app right into a built-in virtual iPhone frame. The result is real native apps with 120 FPS animations, haptics, and standard Apple HIG components.
How does Thorous differ from web-based code generators?
Unlike browser-based sandboxes, Thorous runs locally on your Mac. It executes a closed compiler feedback loop:

Thorous is developed and actively maintained by the Thorous Team, an independent software studio focused on developer tooling, compiler automations, and modern Swift architecture. We release weekly updates, refine developer ergonomics, and maintain an open suite of 28 free iOS developer tools.
What are our core privacy and security principles?
Bring Your Own Key (BYOK): Your Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter API keys are stored locally on your macOS Keychain or secure sandbox. They never transit through any intermediate proxy server.
Your Code, Your Copyright: All SwiftUI code and assets generated by Thorous are 100% owned by you. There are no proprietary runtime dependencies or lock-ins.
