Apple Bundle Identifier Rules & Requirements

Reverse-DNS Notation

Apple requires identifiers in reverse domain format (e.g., com.example.myapp) to avoid namespace collisions between developers on the App Store.

Cannot be Changed

Once an app version is submitted to App Store Connect, the Bundle ID is permanently locked to that application record and cannot be renamed.

Extension Prefix Rules

All target extensions (Widgets, Watch apps, Siri intents) must strictly begin with the parent app’s exact bundle identifier as a prefix.
